Practice is part of the statewide system

DON’T JUST SAY “PRACTICE.”

Useful practice has a target: one transition at 92 BPM, one vocal entrance, one bass line, one rudiment, one chart, one clean recording take. ANCHOR Practice Lab turns vague homework into a visible task and connects it to the musician’s band, course, songbook and preferred working setup.

The method

Small target. Clear evidence. Useful feedback.

A practice system should not turn neurodivergent musicians into compliance dashboards. The evidence can be a recording, a tempo checkpoint, a marked chart, a mix revision, a written reflection or simply “I can now enter cleanly after the bridge.” The player controls what gets recorded and what is shared.

The point is not streaks. The point is knowing what to do next.

Build a practice plan

Player

  • Choose a useful target.
  • Use the practice format that works.
  • Decide what evidence is private or shared.

Band

  • Link practice to current arrangements.
  • Stop losing version changes.
  • Make rehearsal less repetitive.

Lighthouse

  • Attach practice to courses and TeleClass.
  • Offer written, video, audio and replay formats.
  • Give feedback asynchronously when live response is hard.

ANCHOR

  • Measure participation without surveillance.
  • Keep diagnosis out of musical scoring.
  • Support Drumojo and mature external tools instead of rebuilding everything.
